About Me

A man proudly holding a certificate next to a small airplane on a clear day.

My Background

My name is Alex Benson-Clardy, and I hold a Commercial Multiengine Certificate (CMEL), along with my Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) and CFI Instrument (CFII) certificates. I began my commercial pilot training in Everett, Washington at ATP Flight School and also trained in San Luis Obispo, Sacramento, and Mesa, Arizona. My flight training primarily involved flying Cessna Skyhawk 172s and Piper Seminole aircraft.

A bit about my background: I grew up in Seattle and attended Eastern Washington University, where I earned a degree in Government and started a career in politics. In 2019, I met my wife, and after welcoming our first child, we decided to move back to the Santa Ynez Valley, where she grew up. To facilitate this move, I initiated a career change.

While my goal is to work for the airlines, I am eager to establish deep roots in the Valley and am excited about the opportunity to train new pilots. Whether you aspire to fly for the airlines, cargo, corporate, or simply for recreation, learning to fly is an incredible experience. The sights we encounter and the skills we acquire are both challenging and rewarding. If you’re interested in learning to fly, please reach out.
